Summary
An experienced packaging engineering professional who, working with little or no supervision, applies advanced packaging engineering knowledge and packaging program management skills to complete complex assignments and packaging-related strategic initiatives including, but not limited to Plant Support, TPM, Business Continuity/On-Market Product Support, Cost Savings, Sustainability, and New Product Introductions & Program Launch projects. The Packaging Product Support Engineer has full knowledge of device development and design controls. This is a senior level engineer position on the Global Packaging Engineering Team and will report to the Manager, Packaging Engineering – Product Support.
Responsibilities
* Identifies, plans, and conducts projects within packaging engineering specialty requiring custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations, and/or qualifications/testing. Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines. * Works with Marketing, Regulatory, Product Development, and Manufacturing Sites to establish scope, priorities, and schedules on multiple projects. * Drives to perform packaging economic analysis, technical feasibility, and resource capability studies related to complex and often multiple competing project alternatives derived from Commercial, Franchise, Manufacturing Site, R&D;, and Quality customers. . * Explores multiple alternatives. Structures packaging studies and integrates cross-disciplinary and cross-functional issues to arrive at optimal cause of action. * Builds relationships. Initiates and cultivates open, honest relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others' needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments. * Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct prototype or experimental runs of products or processes.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * A Bachelors Degree in (Packaging) Engineering or closely related discipline with a desired 6 years of significant packaging engineering and/or operational experience. **Background:** * Has a technical background in medical device or combination product development and design controls. * Interacts well with diverse groups within packaging engineering; maintains strong, effective working relationships with internal and external collaborators, global colleagues, and AbbVie manufacturing & finishing operation sites. * Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations. * Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment. * Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
