Responsibilities
* Develops design strategies to achieve reliability targets in complex systems. Conduct reliability simulations using advanced theoretical tools and collect/ generate data required to run these simulations. Designs and conducts prospective reliability testing in the early stage of development as well as Design Verification to support of combination product submissions. * Identifies, plans, and conducts medium- to large-size projects within engineering specialty requiring custom, risk-managed execution plans, investigations, and/or equipment. Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines. * Independently executes, and/or directs others in the execution of: the design of products /processes /equipment /systems/facilities by applying novel engineering theories, concepts, and techniques within the disciplines. * Designs and leads complex experiments, often with multiple variables, gathers data, and performs detailed analysis. Assesses relevance. Communicates across functions and disciplines. * Conceptualizes complete solutions. Creates or coordinates the design solutions for novel or complex problems; integrates regulatory and operational needs; assesses cost benefit, e.g. identifies processes and develops flow charts, for a complex construction or manufacturing operation. * Applies systems engineering concepts to product development activities and establishes necessary process and documentation models needed to collaborate with development partners. * Prepares written communication. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents, e.g. develops proposals, project summaries, and design documentation; submits articles for internal or external publication. May move forward with action plans without seeking approval. Exhibits advanced ability to apply concepts of careful communication. * Builds relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others' needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments, e.g. offers assistance; interacts effectively with stakeholders at appropriate levels of the organization. * Mitigates risk within functions through sound design, early risk assessments and implementation of fallback strategies. * Coaches junior engineers and shares know-how throughout the department.
Ideal Candidate
* MS in Engineering laying a foundation for excelling in System Engineering and/or Reliability Engineering. * Significant experience in medical device product development and regulatory compliance with 21 CFR 820.30 Design Controls, ISO13485, and ISO14971. * Experience in reliability engineering both theoretically and experimentally. * Working knowledge of systems engineering tools and techniques. * Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. * Articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations. * Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment. * Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences. * Has a technical background in health care, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or similar industries (preferred).
