Responsibilities
* This position will support the Manager of Scientific Information & Communications in creating and developing response documents for unsolicited requests for medical information, coordinating scientific publications from AMO-sponsored Post Market Studies, creating monthly/quarterly and ad hoc reports, as well as interpreting and disseminating comprehensive published peer reviewed articles, developing technical, and scientific documents through a variety of communication vehicles (ie. peer review manuscripts, trade articles, abstracts, podium papers, manuscripts, posters, value dossiers, e-newsletters, etc.). Position requires working with cloud-based databases, independent and team project – requesting assistance as appropriate. * Reporting to the Manager of Scientific Information & Communications, the Sr. Specialist, Scientific Communications will be handling activities related to all AMO business units: Cataract, Refractive, and Corneal. * The Sr. Specialist, Scientific Communications is responsible for: developing and creating scientific materials (examples: Abstracts, Papers/Posters, Manuscripts, Data on File documents, Clinical Value Dossiers, etc.) to support Global Medical Affairs’ communications initiatives for internal and external distribution and consumption. This includes creating response documents to unsolicited requests for medical information. This position also requires creating comprehensive summary reports that encompass all of AMO's line of businesses and products (Cataract, Refractive, and Corneal), as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams at AMO to align priorities with clinical messaging. The Sr. Specialist, Scientific Communications will interface with external HCPs / customers to provide publication support and respond to inquiries.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Journalism, Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field or equivalent work related experience required. * In-depth knowledge and understanding of medical and science terminology – preferably in Ophthalmology * Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as HCPs and customers, as well as internal cross-functional teams within the organization, including Clinical R&D, Regulatory, Compliance, and Commercial groups * Proven ability to develop scientific materials for internal and external dissemination: peer reviewed and/or trade articles, scientific articles and more, which clearly, accurately, and concisely present topical scientific content * Minimum 3 years of communications and/or writing experience * Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and function in a fast-paced environment, but maintain a keen eye for detail * Work well in a team environment, but also able to work independently and be results driven
