Responsibilities
  • Drive Search Relevance, Ranking, and Query Understanding Amazon Movies and Music categories.
  • Identify customer pain points, understand business challenges, and solve technical problems to address them.
  • Develop ML and NLP models to improve relevance across all access points – mobile, desktop, and voice.
  • Define project deliverables with long term customer satisfaction as the target.
  • Collaborate with teams across A9.com, and Amazon, to improve the Search experience across a variety of devices.
  • Lead the design and implementation of technical solutions requiring a strong background in algorithms, analytics, data mining, machine learning, A/B testing, and customer facing code that runs at scale.
  • Recruit, hire and cultivate great engineering talent to attack challenging technical situations.
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading software development teams.
  • At Least 2 years of domain experience in Search, Information Retrieval, or Relevance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Machine Learning (ML) and/or Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to recruit, and develop, a high-performing engineering team of computer science engineers and data scientists.
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of applied machine learning methods and techniques.
  • Proven track record in shipping products/services with high quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical partners.
  • Ability to effectively work, and communicate, with Senior Executives.
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to function well in loosely structured situations involving uncertainties and a range of opinions.
  • Bias for action, with strong customer focus.
  • Excellent decision maker who drives action, high quality, and results.
