Sofware Architect

Zype is the video distribution service for OTT. We are dedicated to making it easy for content owners to connect directly with their audiences on every screen. With Zype, content owners can own and accelerate all aspects of video distribution direct to consumer.

Zype is hiring a Software Architect, an individual contributor role, in our New York City office on West 28th and 7th Avenue. This position will be in our Engineering group, which is responsible for building, improving, and maintaining our multi-tenant cloud based video services.

* Report to Product Manager on day to day sprint and long term roadmap planning * Design cloud infrastructure, microservices, databases, applications, and front-ends for cloud video services * Lead development efforts for new development projects * Provide mentorship and support to junior developers * Write specifications and detailed technical designs and documentation before, during, and after projects are build and shipped * Work with local and remote development and DevOps teams * Communicate with 3rd party vendors and partners and collaborate with their engineering teams on integrations

* Software design expertise, specifically multi-tenant cloud based services, APIs, and dashboards * Over 5 years experience in software development * A demonstrable history of shipping production code * Ruby and Ruby on Rails expertise (senior level) * MongoDB and SQL expertise * AWS-based infrastrcture expertise - must have * Willingness to work on and deliver a take home project * 4 Year Degree in CS or equivalent * Advanced Degree preferred * Experience with microservice design a plus * Experience with Docker and ECS a plus
