Director of Coding

This position is responsible for planning, organization, delivery and maintenance of Emergency Department client clinical documentation and coding related reimbursement issues. Serves as the provider coding education liaison to physician clients and other internal departments. Preforms/oversees coding reviews and assists in revenue projections for potential clients.

• Provideclinical documentation education for client physicians
• Identify need for on-going education and provide educational support and training of clinical documentation practices
• Identify and implement improvement measures that will enhance department operations and client service.
• Develop and oversees all educational sessions as needed, monitoring and participating in performance improvement initiatives
• Assist sales department in preparingcoding reviews and revenue projections

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
• At least 4 to 5 current years of experience with Emergency Medicine coding, with at least 2 years in an education focused capacity; prior experience working in a consulting position is a plus
• Clinical documentation improvement experience
• Knowledge/experience in Microsoft office applications required
• Ability to provide excellent client service with interactions
• ICD-10 Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
• Analytical ability to gather and interpret data to identify discrepancies, problems or issues, to determine compliance with regulations, policies and procedures
• Leadership skills such as accountability, decision-making, coaching and counseling.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable coding documentation and billing regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance
