Summary
ZipRealty’s Performance & Intelligence Team is looking for aspiring data geeks. The Junior Data Scientist will work closely with ZipRealty’s data science team, product managers, engineers and leadership team to provide insights and analyses that drive product strategy, innovation, and adoption of ZipRealty’s consumer and business products. You will take ownership of high-impact analyses and projects while having mentorship, with many opportunities and resources to learn and succeed. Responsibilities
* Improve the ZapScore – ZipRealty's predictive lead-scoring algorithm * Predict home sale prices and macro real estate trends * Improve ZipRealty’s “Featured Listings” and “Similar Homes” recommendation algorithms * Identify emerging online real estate search patterns and user sentiment * Propose a strategy to maximize user engagement by analyzing millions of clicks, pageviews, and other datasets * Owned and managed an analytics project from ideation to production code * Effectively documented analyses and multivariate tests, and laid a solid foundation for all future data science projects * Contributed to and breathed in an agile development environment * Gained valuable experience using R and/or Python for scientific computing * Attained expert-level SQL knowledge
Ideal Candidate
* Pursuing a BS/BA/MS/PhD in a related discipline or equivalent of education and experience * Excellent analytical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills * Strong attention to detail * Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences * Enthusiasm and experience manipulating and cleaning large data sets * Proven intellectual curiosity and thirst for knowledge (ambitious coursework, side projects, independent learning) **Preferred Qualifications** * Proficiency in or willingness to learn SQL * Experience/knowledge in data-mining languages/tools e.g. Python, R, SAS, Stata, SPSS, Excel * Experience/knowledge in probability, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing
