Summary
Global video game publisher/developer headquartered in Rockville MD, seeks an entry Level Data Scientist to join the Enterprise Business Intelligence team. This position works within the Enterprise BI Team and is responsible for the reporting and analytics for game, customer, and business data. The Data Scientist will be focusing on supporting analytic needs from all facets of the business, including e-commerce, finance, and game event data. The incumbent will have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience partnering with both technical and business teams to facilitate analytics and reporting. The Data Scientist will be responsible for validating incoming data, facilitating creation of reports, aiding advanced Data Scientists in analytics, making sure reports align with business requirements, and confirming that internal and external developed systems properly meet the need of populating said data models.
Responsibilities
* Work within the Enterprise BI team, supporting reporting & analytics from multiple data sources including, but not limited to: * Hadoop using Spark/Databricks and Impala * Amazon Redshift * Relational Databases * Create and maintain reports and analytics with Tableau that will support decision making within the organization * Work directly with business stakeholders, ensuring that business requirements are captured and met * Directly work with the ETL Engineers, Data Engineers, and Modelers to communicate and define necessary extracts and calculations * Create documentation of work from end to end (ingest to report/analysis) * Straddle differing subject areas such as in-game and business data sources * Use statistical methods to analyze data for multiple business stake holders
Ideal Candidate
* At least 1-2 years of work experience or equivalent academic degree * A good understanding of data modeling concepts and visualization methods * Intermediate to Advanced SQL skills * Experience with data manipulation * Familiarity with Tableau (or similar visualization software) * Experience maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise reports and analytics * Comfortable exploring and analyzing unfamiliar datasets, both structured and unstructured * Comfortable operating in both data warehousing as well as big data solution environments * Able to conduct requirements gathering and define business needs * Excellent communicator and comfortable interfacing directly with differing customers across the organization in addition to the BI team * Experience working within the Video Games industry preferred, though candidates from outside of the industry are also welcomed * Programming experience is a plus (e.g. Scala, Python, R) * Understanding of the Free-to-Play/Micro-transaction Business Model for different game types is a plus * A personal interest in video gaming is a plus * Capable of managing multiple projects at a time * Self-driven attitude
