Summary
The Draft Beer Specialist will maximize the sale of our draft beer brand portfolio through creative and dynamic business development, effective account management, exceptional customer service, expert installation of taps and kegs, brand promotion and communication that permits achievement of company and supplier objectives. This position is considered a hybrid position as it encompasses marketing, sales, merchandising, customer service and satisfaction, and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
* Serve as a subject matter expert on Craft Beers within the YMCO portfolio for the sales team and customers to include but not limited to, partnering on field sales calls, product training, and equipment setup. * Build and maintain and build strong relationships with current YMCO customers with the goal of increasing beer representation. * Develop monthly, weekly, and daily written plans for execution of beer objectives. * Supports sales and promotional activities that effectively counter competitive trends by establishing goals for individual territories, and distribution standards for brands. * Surveys market area to detect business trends and opportunities for new products or new applications for existing products. * Provide training and ongoing education on effective draft lines, taps, and market trends for customers and YMCO sales employees. * Create effective account presentations for sales calls as well as staff training. * Effectively work with all channels of the business including but not limited to, on-premise, off-premise, and specialty chain divisions. * Troubleshoot and repair YMCO dedicated draft line(s). * Disseminate supplier information and obtain feedback on the effectiveness, efficiency and relevance of the promotional activities. * Work w/ supplier reps to achieve distribution and sales objectives. * Maintain a clean/sanitary work and storage are for draught equipment. * Use “Best Practices” for installation of new draft placements; insuring each new YMCO draft account is functioning properly. * Handle Hot Shot/same day beer deliveries including all “Keg 1” deliveries to new accounts. * Schedule appointments to obtain new accounts and to service existing accounts. * Coordinate and communicate objectives to sales team. * Deliver, set-up, and takedown of draft equipment at special events throughout the year. * Monitors, evaluates & communicate the activities and products of competition. * Job duties include working nights and weekends on promotional activities and other account activities. * Prepares and maintains required paperwork, reports and records.
Ideal Candidate
* EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred; one to two years related experience, preferably with an alcoholic beverage wholesaler, retailer, supplier and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 21 years of age or older. * COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, in addition to compute rate, ratio, and percent. * REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Computer Skills: Email, Excel, Word and Outlook. * Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Requires a current state CA driver's license; ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
