Summary
Yahoo Mail Backend Team develops and maintains high-performing systems that provide API (Web Services, IMAP, & POP), Metadata and Elastic Storage for the electronic mail and its auxiliary functions. The system handles billions of requests a day, and supports a variety of clients, mobile, desktop, & web. The team works on problems that cover a wide spectrum - from web services to operating system and networking layer.
Responsibilities
This role is in the Communications organization that connects the world through Mail, Messenger, Groups, Calendar, Contacts & Notepad. On this team, you have an amazing opportunity to impact the productivity and connected lives of approximately 300 Million users every month. This amazing team of Engineers, Product Managers and Designers work on next generation innovative experiences transforming how users connect with each other every day. You will be coding in Java and/or C++ on Unix platform to help build the next generation backend for Yahoo Mail.
Ideal Candidate
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with strong understanding of the fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking - A proven track-record of technical leadership, including responsibility for design or architecture - Significant professional experience in Software Development - Experience in OOP. Java or C++ preferred - Experience with designing, developing high performing, and complex server applications - Great communicator, enjoys helping people, remains friendly and constructive under stress **Love To Have** - Phd. in Computer Science or related field - Experience with development on Unix platform - Knowledge of JVM internals and its performance tuning - Network Programming Experience
