Summary
This position encompasses procuring part data from the customer's material database, securing production planning information and assumptions from the customer's central staff and plan personnel, and utilizing customer software to determine material space requirements. Concurrently, the MFE must develop storage and linestocking layouts in conjunction with Process and Industrial Engineering developments. The process also involves establishing material flow metrics, and simulating vehicle and personnel movement to assess congestion and safety parameters. The MFE will participate in determining select material handling equipment requirements, and engage in their design and purchase. The activity culminates in partaking in the product launch at the affected plant.
Responsibilities
* Layout of market, sequencing, and kitting areas to facilitate material handling, process flow, space utilization, and manpower. * Determine material flow metrics for market places, docks and major commodities, and major suppliers. * Develop conceptual sketches of material handling equipment. * Assist in confirming manpower and powered vehicle requirements. * Provide vehicle and pedestrian flow/congestion/safety analyses and recommend practical solutions where required. * Develop floor space analyses to confirm storage requirements and recommend practical solutions where required. * Determine purchase requirements for static racking. * Monitor, update and assess feasibility of plant initiated layout changes. * Coordinate Ford material database discrepancies with responsible plan personnel. * Prepare drawing documentation requirement for plant presentation. * Participating in weekly review meetings with plant staff **Supervisory Responsibilities:** * None.
Ideal Candidate
* Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree with a focus in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or a similar technical degree * Have a minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD Factory Flow, Ms Excel and Access * 3-5 years of material handling experience * Possess strong project management skills. * Be able to communicate clearly and precisely, both orally and in writing. * Be able to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation: * Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment; * Reach with hands and arms; * Talk and hear; * See and be able to read, write, and interpret text, spreadsheet, and graphical documents; * Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
