Engineering Manager

The Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. The Wikimedia Foundation operates some of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, a top-ten internet property.

Wikipedia is looking for an experienced and collaborative Engineering Manager to help build features that enable our communities to achieve our Vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. Engineering Managers at Wikipedia support engineers and designers who build features, products and services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world. This is an opportunity to ‘do good’ while having a high level of impact at a large-scale media property. You will join the Editing Department, where we build collaborative, inclusive tools for creating and editing free knowledge. You’ll be supporting teams that work on exciting products, such as article editing and multimedia contribution features.

**Requirements** * 5+ years’ Engineering Management experience in the internet industry * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills * Passion for participatory (vs. read-only) experiences on the web **Pluses** * BS in Computer Science or other technical field * Experience working in an agile software development environment * Experience editing Wikipedia * Experience with open source software development
