QA Manager

When I Work is an employee scheduling and communication app using the web, mobile apps, text messaging, social media, and email. The program provides a powerful tool for employers to communicate with employees and ensure schedules are properly communicated.

We're looking for an experienced (seriously, been there done that) QA Manager to join our growing team. Have you lead teams that have tested multiple platforms (e.g. Web, iOS, Android)? Have your teams worked closely with support to uncover how your customers break your apps? Have you lead automation teams on web and mobile as well as manual testers? Have you done deep thinking on how to make your QA team better while still getting your hands dirty? Does working for a team that loves to get stuff done every day with as few meetings as necessary excite you? Have you done all of this at a fast growing startup? If your answer is been there and done that to all of these, then this may be the job for you! You’ll mentor, build and lead a team to ensure both native mobile and web apps are bug free and of the highest quality. You will be interfacing closely with support and helping them reproduce and triage issues our customers are dealing with. Finally, you will be coordinating the QA team with Developers, Product Managers, and the Support team every day about enhancements that need to be tested and issues that you have encountered. In short, you and your team will own all aspects of app quality. Although we’re a startup, we already have testing practices in place. We have unit tests for code, test plans for upcoming features, and are working toward automated testing. But we’re looking for someone smarter than us to take us even further, someone who has done all of these things before at a startup and looking for an opportunity/challenge to do it again. * Develop QA processes, in conjunction with development, product management and support, to help ensure our web and mobile apps are meeting our top quality standards. * Growing the current QA team, both in terms of mentoring and hiring, to taking us where we need to go in the future. Willing to chip in wherever necessary to get things done. * Define and develop the process for getting test plans built and executed. * Lead QA in creating automation scripts to ensure changes are not introducing new bugs. * Partner with Support to troubleshoot, understand and recreate the major issues our customers are encountering. * Communicate with Development, Product Management and Support on testing progress. * Constantly providing feedback and advice on how our application, processes and group more effective and efficient.

* Real-world experience leading a team on a SaaS product ensuring the highest possible quality of mobile and web apps, and an ability to see apps from the user’s perspective. Previous experience at a growing startup that has had to quickly scaled their QA team is preferred. * Experience hiring, mentoring and managing a remote QA team embedded with remote developers from across the US. Growth and leading a team in a fast growing startup is preferred. * Experience gathering metrics and looking at bug trends to determine process changes. * Led teams that implemented real world automation. We don’t use WinRunner or QTP but if have you have experience with Selenium, Cucumber, and Watir, please apply. Any mobile automation is a bonus. * Knows what it takes to work with Support and help triage, re-create and document bugs. Not afraid to make changes to the current process if needed. * Laser focused on QA team execution through refining the QA process, including documentation, determining essential usability tests and evaluating tools that could enhance testing processes. * Knowledge of source control, preferably Git, and working in an Unix environment is a plus.
