Our Deli department offers a wide variety of delicious sliced meats and cheeses, ideas for easy entertaining, and countless meal solutions and suggestions. Responsibilities
**Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service** * Proactively approach customers, slice, weigh and package a variety of items as requested, and answer any questions about products or service offered * Slice a variety of meats and cheeses throughout the day to maintain product levels on wafer trays and ensure the most efficient customer service at the counter **Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients** * Work with team members to maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure cases are well-merchandised, properly signed, and stocked with supplies to complete tasks efficiently * Unload and break down deliveries, stock cases and coolers; refill to meet customer needs while rotating for freshness * Follow Wegmans core recipes and job aides when preparing all products for use in the Prepared Foods department, ensure a consistent outcome in line with Wegmans standards of quality * Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines, and Simplification 5S procedures **Living Who We Are** * Support, encourage, and respect co-workers * Work with supervisor to set and achieve goals for professional development * Comply with Wegmans Policies and Work Rules, as well as, federal and state laws * Maintain open lines of communication with supervisors and coworkers to ensure the most efficient operations in the department

**Seeking Candidates Who…** * Live our values: caring, respect, empowerment, making a difference, high standards * Possess teamwork & diversity awareness * Seek continuous learning opportunities * Provide incredible customer service * Ensure food & human safety * Possess organizational skills * Provide knowledge based service * Educate self and others about product knowledge * Use and explain Wegmans cooking techniques **Preferred Skills and Experience** * Customer Service experience, preferably in a food service industry, grocery or retail setting * Experience working in a deli and/or using a deli slicer * Work Environment * Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-works in a fast-paced environment * Typical motions include repetitive grasping, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, and lifting * Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds occasionally * Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperature * May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction) * Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours

Working Conditions

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Candidate must be available afternoons and evenings at least four days per week, including Saturday and/or Sunday.
