Summary
Our Wegmans cashiers make sure customers end their shopping trips with a positive experience. In this role, you’ll provide incredible customer service by engaging customers in friendly conversation, carefully bagging items, and accurately completing monetary transactions. You’ll leave a lasting impression and transform first-time shoppers into loyal Wegmans customers!
Responsibilities
**Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service** * Engage customers in conversation using effective communication skills, such as direct eye contact and a smile to build a rapport based on trust and satisfaction * Perform all steps in the checkout process including: scanning and bagging items at a rate that meets store requirements, processing accepted forms of payment, and counting accurate change to ensure no overages or shortages of money. * Assist customers in locating products by understanding and familiarizing self with store layout * Offer additional services such as carryout assistance * Uphold state regulations during the sale of alcohol with no exceptions or violations **Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients** * Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space * Perform proper bagging techniques to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store. This includes practicing food safety techniques by bagging food and non-food items separately, correct product placement, and other safety techniques demonstrated during cashier training * Report any problems, questions or concerns to the Team Leader or Front End Coordinator with teamwork and continuous learning methods in mind * Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures **Living Who We Are** * Support, encourage, and respect co-workers * Work with supervisor to set and achieve goals for professional development * Comply with Wegmans Policies and Work Rules, as well as, federal and state laws * Maintain open lines of communication with supervisors and coworkers to ensure the most efficient operations in the department
