Responsibilities
- Act as VPA point of contact for Volvo Penta trade press and employees engaged in press relations. - Manage production, scheduling and delivery processes for external communications to trade press and other key industry audiences. - Coordinate with members of VPA to prepare information necessary for answering press inquiries, supporting editorial development, producing press releases and other communication development. - Schedule and plan press interviews with journalists and facilitate VPA expert participation. - Manage and continuously improve external communication approval and advance visibility processes for VPA leadership and key internal/external stakeholders. - Ensure Volvo Penta content is accurate and consistent across external industry channels. - Manage agency resources for copywriting, editing and other trade press relations processes. - Assess and produce commercial content for VPA Violin intranet, VPA Partner Network and websites. - Schedule content, write, design and communicate the monthly Volvo Penta partner “Newswire” newsletters for the three vertical market dealer organizations in the US and Canada. (6 total) - Measure and report trade press exposure and share of voice for Volvo Penta and key competitors. - Attend applicable trade shows to provide onsite press coordination. - Oversee the development of press kits and media events, as determined by marketing plans. - Network and maintain relationships with employees, industry colleagues, VPA business partners, segment trade press journalists and editors. - Understand target audiences to maximize distribution of VPA information through trade press and other industry communication channels. - Manage the Publicity, PR events and other designated marketing budgets. - Project manage VPA commercial and sponsorship events as agreed with executive management. - Constant monitoring of print and online marine and industrial news sources to assess market environment and communication trends. - Support and seek Volvo Penta representation in Volvo Group Americas communications. - Support and seek Volvo Group representation in Volvo Penta communications. - Support product marketing and e-business marketing to ensure marketing collateral development and content accuracy is consistent with externally released information. - Liaise with global segment leadership and global marketing and corporate communications colleagues to support consistent, current and accurate Volvo Penta communications across all regions. - Represent VPA in marketing, communications and technology forums as needed for the region. - Manage Volvo Penta brand identity compliance in all press and commercial communications. - Support VPA sales and marketing colleagues collaborating on communication needs as appropriate. - Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed by manager to support VP goals and objectives. - Provide Volvo Penta Partner Network and VPA team place support to organize and manage information exchange with OEMs, dealers, suppliers. - Subject matter expert and system designer for Volvo Penta Customer Center. - Develop and organize Violin, VPPN and other communication system pages and content. - Provide systems and technical expertise for EPC and other VP systems and processes. - Liaise with local IT, Volvo IT and CMS Services to ensure VPA colleagues and partners are supported with systems helpdesk and technology needs applicable to VPA business.

Skills and Knowledge Required: - Understanding of Volvo Penta strategic direction, business objectives and organization. - Knowledge of Volvo Penta products, applications and offers. - Ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a demanding environment. - Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills. - Exceptional planning and organizational skills with a quality focus and attention to detail. - Direct leadership and management of agency partner resources. - Represent Volvo and Volvo Penta values, vision and desired brand attributes. - Financial judgment and negotiation skills to manage marketing spend. - Results oriented, collaborative and audience focused mindset. - Self-directed, responsive with sound business judgment. - Ability to manage and maintain confidential information. - Understanding of trade press work steps, needs and motivations. - Ability to inspire action across cultures, levels, and locations. - Strong time management and ability to deliver to internal/external deadlines. - Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and creative solutions. - PC Proficient, Microsoft Office and Adobe software, digital communications platforms. Education and Experience: - BA/BS, marketing, management, business systems, communications, required. - 2+ years of experience with press relations - 5+ years in marine / industrial sales and marketing. - Experience in professional customer/audience-focused environments.
