Summary
The Bell R&D team is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This person must apply sound engineering principles in the development and documentation of products of moderate to extreme levels of difficulty. Independent critical thinking and design skills are required for this position, as projects may be large in scope with few existing precedents.
Responsibilities
* Project Management (typical team size: 1+ engineers/designers/developers) * Create and maintain schedules along with project requirements and specifications through interactions with Product Developers and Vendors from concept through production. * Review design efforts from team. * Function as a single point of contact for multiple projects. * Work closely with Marketing, and Industrial Design staff to conceptualize new innovative product ideas based on an understanding of market needs and competitive products * Creation, control and maintenance of a Bill of Materials for multiple projects. * Creation, control and maintenance of engineering release packages * Creation and refinement of complex mechanical components including sourcing, performance parameters, production control. * Creation of communication documentation to convey key aspects of the design to marketing as well as vendors. * Perform root cause analysis and testing activities. * Exercising independent judgement is a fundamental requirement of the Bell team. The Sr. position should be able to combine the judgement of multiple team members to set the appropriate product direction. **Other Duties:** * Some travel to China is required to ensure smooth development and launch. * Learning is a required assignment for all Mechanical Engineers. The expectation is that the employee will strive to expand and improve his/her skill set aggressively without undue impact and distraction to company projects. Below is a generalized list of key areas that are critical to the further development of the engineer’s skill set. * All aspects of Solidworks, including assembly management, part modeling, basic surfacing, drawing creation, and data sharing tools such as EPDM. * Design guidelines and rules of thumb for individual components and finished product. * Keep up to date with latest testing/performance research. * Develop and test new methods of energy management applicable to our products.
Ideal Candidate
* 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field. * 8+ years experience in a similar position. * Computer experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). * Advanced CAD experience required, preferably proficient in Solidworks. * Mechanical expertise in common manufacturing techniques including injection and compression molding, composites, vacuum forming. * Competence and familiarity with basic model shop tools and procedures.
