Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Database Administrator who will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of hosted applications. You will work closely with the development team on database tuning, performance analysis, architecture and backup and recovery best practices. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the overall datacenter and databases of our hosted environment. In this role you will be incorporating tested backup methodologies, validating data integrity, ensuring data accessibility both in terms of up-time and speed, and assisting in every possible way to provide access to the information needed to help run the web services in an efficient manner. You will be a professional who knows how to manage odd and regular schedules, and communicate with the cloud services team on your workflow and availability.
Responsibilities
* Implement SQL Server best practices and design across global datacenters. * Develop and Implement SQL Server High Availability Strategies using SQL Clustering, AlwaysOn, Mirroring, Log Shipping and Replication to meet business requirements * Develop Encryption and High Security Standards Strategies to meet business requirements. * Ensure Backups, Mirrors and Cluster services are running optimally. * Collaborate with development teams on optimizing database schemas, indexes, stored procedures and queries to enhance product performance. * Create a SQL data warehouse to track customer Metadata, performance metrics and provide alerting mechanisms. * Monitor operations of central computing resources for performance optimization. * Diagnose, as appropriate, complex systems issues with multiple influencing factors. * Create and maintain documentation to support database operations. * Passionate about automating various aspects of SQL administration, performance and operational workflow processes.
Ideal Candidate
**Experience** * 7+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server, including high availability (AlwaysOn, clustering, mirroring, replication etc.) SQL Server operations, performance tuning, backup and recovery, transaction log management, maintenance, indexes, and SQL query optimization * 5+ years with Microsoft Windows * Support SQL servers on Virtualization platforms * Experience supporting large multi-terabyte databases * Familiar with tuning concepts and proven experience tuning OLTP systems * Experience with multi-tenant and hosted environments * Experience with NOSQL solutions (Mongo) and MYSQL a plus * Familiarity with ITIL and DEVOPs concepts * Knowledge of VMWare ESX 5.5 and 6.0 * Experience in automation and general scripting tasks (Powershell, VBScript, Perl, Ruby, etc) * Knowledge of PCI and Security concepts **Required Experience** **Required Education** * Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience.
