Computer Programmer

The Computer Programmer will provide support to the Stennis Space Center Information Technology Services (SSC ITS) Program at John C. Stennis Space Center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The SSC ITS program includes support in the areas of: - IT Planning, Policy, Security, and Management Services - Application and System Services that include Systems Administration, Data center, Application and Web Sites - Audio Visual / Video Services - Telecommunications Services - Technology Support Services The Computer Programmer’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: - Create, modify and test the code, forms, and script that allow computer applications to run. - Work from specifications drawn up by software developers or other individuals. - May assist software developers by analyzing user needs and designing software solutions. - May develop and write computer programs to store, locate and retrieve specific documents, data and information. - Develop, create and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. - Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. - Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. - May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team. - May supervise computer programmers. - Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. - May design embedded systems software. - Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis. - Design, create and modify Web sites. - Analyze user needs to implement Web site content, graphics, performance and capacity. - May integrate Web sites with other computer applications. - May convert written, graphic, audio and video components to compatible Web formats by using software designed to facilitate the creation of Web and multimedia content.

* 2+ years of experience in support of software systems. Work experience with programming languages such as C, C+, Java, Linux, SQL, Visual basic, and XML may be required. - Knowledge and experience in rapid prototyping, agile development, case and object modeling is desirable. - Bachelor's Degree in technical field. Two years of additional IT experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education. - Skill interacting with customers, ability to prepare accurate documents dealing with software specifications. - This position requires US citizenship and the ability to successfully complete a US government security investigation (NAC). - Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. - Successful candidates will be professional team players who are able to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
