VariQ is currently seeking a Software Developer to perform software development in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM).

Designs, develops, enhances, and debugs software in support of development and maintenance releases of one of the world's largest biometric identification systems, IDENT. Design and develop new software modules or enhancements to existing software. Evaluate effectiveness. Address problems of system integration, compatibility and platforms. Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools. Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Participate in the development of or update to system lifecycle documentation such as requirements documents, design documents, database management plans, etc.

Associate's Degree or Higher and/or 5 plus years of experience. Minimum of 1 year of software development experience with large, complex backend systems. Experience with one or more of the following: C/C++, Java, J2EE, database schema, database scripts, VB.NET code. Experience with Unix environment. * Unix scripting * CAT or Unit testing * development * Documentation support * Flexible attitude in performing the tasks needed to support the project along the development life cycle.
