Summary
Maintain knowledge and understanding of all current and upcoming regulatory and statutory requirements in order to ensure the organization maintains a proactive approach to the timely collection, submission and use of clinical quality data.
Responsibilities
* Maintain knowledge and expertise in data collection to comply with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient Quality Reporting (IQR/OQR), National Healthcare Safety Network and other quality regulatory initiatives and programs. * Maintain knowledge of electronic medical record requirements and standards for population health management and healthcare information exchange (e.g. Meaningful Use and HIMs 7). * Think creatively and collaborate with Clinical and IT colleagues in support of innovative clinical quality and regulatory programs. * Responsible for patient chart abstraction, data analysis and submission of appropriate Core Measure data to fulfil CMS and Joint Commission requirements. Acts upon trends and make performance improvement recommendations to clinical leadership. * Leads and/or participates in data-driven projects aimed at performance improvement (regulatory compliance, patient safety/quality and efficiency). * Participates in the formulation and application of quality reports and serves as a resource to other hospital departments as it relates to medical record audit and data management. * Maintains a good working knowledge of CMS and TJC regulations and participate in all aspects of Quality regulatory surveys.
Ideal Candidate
* 2-3 years of experience in quality abstraction, reporting, and clinical surveillance. * Expertise in interpreting government regulations and guidelines. * Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Colorado Registered Nurse or other clinical license. * Healthcare Quality certification preferred.
