Responsibilities
**Duties:** - Support the preparation, review and analysis of engineering reports, test plans, test reports and other data, including specifications, in the areas of gas turbine engine propulsion systems and their related components, electronic controls, diagnostics and software. - Evaluate systems test plans and participate in the conduct of system, subsystem and component level testing. - Support translating user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystem and equipment for eventual fielding and deployment. - Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assists in developing system concepts and perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications. - Assist with developmental planning support in evaluation of the military mission to be accomplished and any related requirements documentation. - Review and analyze proposals, including regulatory and other policy driver changes or proposed modifications for design feasibility and system compatibility. - Support and conduct systems analyses to include system design/design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment. - Assist Contracting by performing technical evaluations of contractor proposal submissions prior to placing Engineering Changes on contract. - As required, assist, review, and provide recommendations for AFIs and other policy documents. - Perform professional software engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of propulsion systems and subsystems. - Plan, organize, direct and coordinate significant and complex projects in propulsion system software logic and architecture, embedded computer resources, cyber-security, and propulsion prognostics & health monitoring. - Manage, plan, document and conduct compatibility assessments of security requirements for propulsion systems, to include: - Review program documentation (e.g. concept, requirements, design, manuals, reports, source code, deficiency/change reports and program schedules) to ensure security requirements are adequately addressed and implemented. - Witness functional testing and conduct additional security testing where necessary to verify the implementation of security requirements. - Document and report assessment test plans, results, anomaly reports, recommendations, activity reports and other special reports as required. - Conduct and document risk assessments as part of validation activities that include risk descriptions, risk mitigation options, and recommendation. - Perform product security assessments of the software applications used to evaluate security requirements (the assessment is needed to provide a satisfactory level of assurance that the security functions of the applications function as expected). - Assist in translating DoD user requirements into system security requirements which will be used by the weapon system contractor to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate systems, subsystems, and equipment for deployment. - Evaluate the technical implementation of the security design to ascertain security software, hardware, and firmware features affecting confidentiality, integrity, availability, and accountability have been implemented as documented in the Director. of Central Intelligence Directive (DCID) 6/3 Manual, Joint Air Force­Army-Navy (JAFAN) 6/3 Manual, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53, and/or DoDI 8500.2 and that the features perform properly. - Manage and assess propulsion Cybersecurity, Anti-Tamper (AT), and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) deliverables and provide recommendation for approval/disapproval. - Additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** - Master's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 10 years of experience. An additional 8 years of experience may be substituted for a Master's degree. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook). - Experience with Propulsion Office SOCCER system, AFMC SOCCER automated suspense tracking system, etc.
