Operations Engineer

You have experience working with fault tolerant and horizontally scalable infrastructures. You have been involved in the implementation of automation, deployment, and monitoring systems. You excel working on both bare metal and cloud systems. You thrive in self motivated environments and highly value the collaborative aspects of working on a team. You can analyze physical, virtual, and container system behavior to tease out performance gains and squash configuration issues. You lie awake at night lost in thought about how to have a computer do your job for you. You excel in maintaining healthy distributed databases and web servers, running load testing, and backing up mission critical data. You know when to use caching, write naming services, and are a syslog master.

* Supporting the dev organization with design, implementation, and administration of new and growing services * Diagnosing and troubleshooting minor to major infrastructure issues in a relaxed to immediate timeframe * Participating in our On-call rotation * Representing our team’s “best practices” in company wide devops project design and implementation * Configuring dozens of highly interconnected applications * Analysing and tuning performance of systems; networks, applications, databases, RAID, and everything in between * Creating tools to automate workflows and test infrastructure * Documenting process and configuration of production systems

* Linux/System Administration and a good understanding of python/java based systems * Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and routing for small and large networks * Strong understanding of backup solutions * Experience in monitoring systems and alerting * Experience with a configuration management tool e.g. chef (preferred), ansible, puppet, etc. * Strong scripting skills in python, ruby, or bash * Experience with continuous build and delivery systems such as Jenkins * Experience with docker containers, kubernetes (preferred)
