Communications Manager

Upwork (formerly Elance-oDesk) is the world’s largest freelance talent marketplace. The role will be an integral part of our communications team. This is a rare opportunity to join an in-house team at a rapidly-growing but proven market-leading company. We are reimagining the way people work together by empowering them to work without traditional work boundaries like time and place. This team member will be in a supporting role for the team but able to own their own key programs and make a big impact.

* Media relations focused on vertical audiences * Content creation (including articles, blog posts, pitches, social content, etc.) * Daily news scanning * Influencer monitoring and engagement * Speaker program and events management * Comms processes and general team support

**To win in this role, you need:** * At least 4-8 years of communications-related experience * The credibility, polish and persistence to gain credibility amongst leadership * Proven project management abilities * Proven social media skills * Ability to interpret data * Media relations experience * Exceptional judgement to inform comms strategy * Stellar writing skills * Natural relationship-builder * Strong organization and follow through * Bachelor’s degree or higher **Bonus skills** * Vertical media relations * Market research expertise
