Manager, Media Relations

The Manager of Media Relations is responsible for managing the media relation activities for transplant, cardiology and other assigned clinical areas.

* Create, execute and evaluate media strategies for assigned areas. * Coordinate with pertinent scientific and professional organizations to promote assigned areas. * Appropriately prioritize beat areas for media coverage to meet organizational goals. * Cultivate and maintain strong, credible relationships with all appropriate regional, national and international media. * Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments. * Manage media crises in assigned areas. * Seek professional development opportunities.

* Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or related field is required. * Master's degree is preferred. * Five years of experience in media relations, journalism or communications is required. * Experience providing clients with strategic counsel. * Experience in an academic medical center, hospital or health care industry is preferred. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. * Ability to translate scientific/medical information to a lay person's understanding. * Sound news judgment and track record of identifying and promoting stories of interest to regional, national and international media.
