Summary
The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a non-tenure track position as a Professor of Practice or Professor Educator of Construction Management to be determined based on the candidate’s education. The position is intended to be a long-term appointment and can be filled at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The start date is August 15, 2016. CAECM offers accredited undergraduate degrees in Construction Management, Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering as well as Master and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering with concentrations in Construction Engineering and Management.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of construction management. The successful applicant will have expertise in some (but not necessarily all) of the following areas: Construction Methods, Construction Field Supervision, Heavy Highway Construction, Construction Quality Management, Lean Construction, Building Mechanical/ Electrical Systems, Preconstruction Services, Construction Productivity, and Construction Estimating. Course load will include 7-8 courses per year.
Ideal Candidate
**Applicants must have one of the following:** * A PhD in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field. * A Master degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant US industry experience * An MBA and a minimum of 3 years of relevant US industry experience * Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant US industry experience may be considered. If hired with a bachelor’s degree, the applicant will be expected to earn an MS degree in a suitable field or an MBA within a period of 5 years. * Ideal applicants will have extensive hands-on construction management experience, including project management responsibilities for medium and large construction projects. A record of service to the construction community is highly desirable. * The successful applicant will have a strong interest in classroom instruction, will possess effective communication skills, and will lead efforts to incorporate information technology into the CM curriculum. The ideal candidate will have other relevant credentials (e.g., OSHA-certified trainer, PMP, etc).
