Responsibilities
* Provide direct patient care with exemplary customer service to internal and external customers * Front office functions to include patient check in/out process, cash handling, scheduling and entering appointments, demographics and insurance verifications * Assist with phone calls and messages. Document all calls and actions taken * Coordinate patient care under the guidance of the primary care provider (visit closure, hospital transfer, blood transfusion, PICC line, urgent or emergent referral); act as liaison for health plan, case management activities, home health and disease management * Function as a team expert for automated referral, hospital records retrieval, Nevada Prescription Monitoring Program and CORE. Project lead for LEAN/ACE directives, Huddle goals or special project initiative (ECC lead) * Maintain, facilitate and promote primary care department protocols, processes, policies and standards to include but not limited to the following rooming, 5S Exam rooms, patient management, medication Refills, pathology specimens, radiology procedures and other specialty specific protocols as signed by department head or designee * Maintain back office patient flow in collaboration with providers and support staff * Train, orient, develop and mentor new clinical staff
Ideal Candidate
* High school diploma or GED * 2+ years work experience as a medical assistant * Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and / or 3+ years of military medical experience * Ability to perform complex medical assistant tasks * CPR certified or able to attain certification within 30 days of employment * Flexibility to float to other SMA locations as needed * Excellent organization and phone etiquette skills **Preferred Qualifications:** * Medical assistant experience in adult medicine * Office Lab Assistance licensure * Electronic medical record experience
