Responsibilities
* The Lead Engineer will lead teams/projects that solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Able to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Participates and represents UI on Industry associations such as * Doble Committees, EPRI, IEEE & ECNE. Research industry developments and new technology, and provide technical expertise on infrastructure improvements. Perform moderately complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology and principles then develop alternate methods of design concepts to resolve unique problems or to improve processes/services. Perform condition assessment of T &D system equipment/facilities. Provide technical expertise on infrastructure improvements and manage maintenance repairs. * Develop and implement a Reliability Centered Maintenance methodology for equipment maintenance & inspections. Provide guidance to contractors and UI workforce in performing maintenance and inspection activities. Document and communicate results of inspections to stakeholders through routine oral and written condition assessments. Review, interpret and make recommendations with respect to customer and stakeholders. Specify and design component replacements to address standard and non-standard situations. Apply applicable engineering and industry codes, design guidelines and research industry development and new technology. Takes lead in developing project scope, schedule and budget. Responsible for leading a group of individuals initiating the project scope and ensures project deliverable are met.
Ideal Candidate
This position requires a Bachelor's of Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college/university and 7 years of experience performing engineering duties. ASEE degree from an ABET accredited college/university and 11 years of experience performing engineering duties. Specialized advanced training is also required (e.g. PTI. WPI, ECNE PUI, a graduate level engineering degree). Possess an in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in electric utility maintenance activities, along with related business practices and procedures. Experience in T&D electric utility design, operations and maintenance. Maintains knowledge of leading edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations. Able to explain difficult concepts and influence others to change. Able to communicate orally or in writing to regulatory and/or public entities. Able to lead a Team or mentor others.
