Responsibilities
* The UI Transmission Planning Group consists of a highly motivated, collaborative, technical team of engineers responsible for long-term planning of the New England Bulk Electric System. * The Transmission Planning team uses the latest industry software and methods to analyze and plan the New England 115 kV and 345 kV Transmission systems. We consistently encourage and strive to integrate technological improvements and creativity in order to increase both the precision and efficiency of our studies. * Your role in the Transmission Planning team will include leading and/or performing long-term planning studies including voltage, thermal, and stability assessments to ensure the reliable operation of the transmission grid. Our planners naturally become active with their industry peers as they participate in regional task forces and committees (e.g. NPCC, ISO-NE, etc.) along with other relevant technical conferences to maintain the UI’s Transmission Planning Group’s current leading edge practices.You will have freedom to work independently while both receiving constant support from and collaborating with other team members.
Ideal Candidate
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university plus 5 years’ experience performing engineering duties.Your familiarity with various planning standards (e.g. NERC, NPCC, etc.) or planning software packages such as PSS/E and TARA is certainly a plus; however, most importantly we are looking for a collaborative, technical power systems engineer with good communications skills that wants to be part of a highly effective team. Our planning team also places high value on other related experiences in the electrical power industry such as substation design and construction and/or experience with protection and control systems.
