Summary
As a Specialty Division Analyst you will be working at an awarded Top Workplace. Here is what you’ll be doing on a daily basis: Work independently and as part of a team to develop rates, rules and forms for all lines of business for United Specialty Division (USD) companies. Facilitate development of USD products. Create and maintain company exception pages. Prepare exhibits and filings to be submitted and justified to state insurance departments. Conduct an annual rate review for USD commercial lines and states. Work with the CUW Project Coordinator & Corporate Initiatives Analysts on automation projects for rates, rules and forms for United Specialty Division. Interpret and communicate data to managers and Corporate Underwriting teams to aid in decision making processes.
Responsibilities
* Expansion of admitted and non-admitted United Specialty Division paper into new states. * Prepare data, transmittal forms, reports, cover letter and all information necessary for each filing, responding to objections as they occur. * Coordinate rate file and form log entry with the Automation Support Technician Supervisor. * Work with CUW Line Analysts, Corporate Initiatives Analysts, Project Management Office (PMO) and United Specialty Division management on changes associated with bureau rates, rules and forms. * Create an annual rate review packet for specialty division managers. * Provide annual rate review data to staff and consulting actuaries as needed. * Adopt rate, rule and forms revisions according to schedule established for the affected line of business. * Teamwork * Perform other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
**Experience:** * Four or more years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry working with insurance * Understanding of loss ratio, loss development and actuarial concepts. * Knowledge of the legal and regulatory compliance aspects of insurance products and contracts. * Analyze written and verbal information. * Accuracy and attention to detail. * Good math ability including basic statistics. * Knowledge of property and casualty and/or surety insurance coverages and rating rules. * Proficient with Excel and/or, other data and statistical applications * Effective communication skills with an emphasis on information transfer. * Excellent research skills * Excellent organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities. * Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills. * Self-motivated. * Working under deadlines. * Team player. * Positive attitude. **Education & Experience:** * Four year college degree or, equivalent work experience in the Commercial Lines Property and Casualty insurance field. Applicable work experiences include positions in underwriting, claims adjusting, marketing or retail or wholesale broker work. An understanding of loss ratio, loss development, and actuarial concepts is desirable. Experience in the Excess and Surplus Lines market is a plus. * An interest and willingness in continuing further professional development and insurance education such as: Associate in General Insurance (AINS), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). * Analysts are expected to participate in insurance coursework and in-house training programs throughout their careers.
