Network Engineer, Operations

Twitch’s live and on-demand video platform forms the backbone of a distribution network for video game broadcasters including pro players, tournaments, leagues, developers and gaming media organizations.

* Responsible for all aspects of network support and operations * Manage a global backbone, including: traffic engineering, capacity planning, path diversity / fate sharing * Collaborate with fellow network engineers on design proposals and projects * Rotate through on-call support * Work closely with other engineering teams to solve, or diagnose, network related challenges * Create network diagrams, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures * Work problems to completion with various vendor technical support centers * Travel to domestic and international locations to deploy new, and augment existing, sites

* You have 3+ years operating and managing networks * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Intermediate knowledge / experience in a multi-vendor environment (Brocade, Arista, Juniper, Cisco, etc.) * Intermediate knowledge of peering and transit interconnection relationships * Intermediate knowledge of: BGP, OSPF, MPLS-TE, IPv4/IPv6, QoS, RIB/FIB, SNMP, SYSLOG, sFlow/NetFlow * Working knowledge of: 10/40/100GbE, fiber cabling, optical transceivers, server load balancing * Working knowledge of: WDM technologies, SDN concepts, and SQL databases * Experience using open source tools (BIRD, pmacct, Cacti, RANCID, etc.) * Comfortable working in Linux, with a basic understanding of shell scripting * Advanced level certification (CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent) * Ability to code in a relevant language
