Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) is one of the original six tribal colleges that were established by various Indian Tribes in the early 1970’s. The Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribe chartered the college in 1972.
Responsibilities
* Candidates must be knowledgeable, productive and efficient in all functions that are core competencies to Plumbing industry. Must possess a thorough understanding of all equipment, settings, etc. * Recruits, instructs, advises and evaluates trainees based upon the Plumbing Technology program requirements. * Knowledge of and experience in residential and commercial new construction plumbing, as well as residential and commercial service and repair plumbing * Knowledge in the following areas of plumbing (but not limited to): sprinkler fitter, pipe fitter, and/or steam fitter * Knowledge of current ND plumbing code * Knowledge of plumbing industry standards, duties, and safety regulations * Research and develop curriculum in plumbing technology occupations. * Ability to teach and or facilitate courses related to plumbing technology specific occupations. * Teach students skills needed to pass industry related certifications. * Knowledge of NCCER Plumbing Technology core curriculum and plumbing modules or NCCER certified in the area of Pluming Technology * Oversees the initial development and establishment of plumbing workshop facilities and curriculum. Once completed, will maintain and ensure protection of all equipment and supplies in shop areas * Develop instructional activities, course syllabi, course outlines and other necessary teaching material. * Monitors and reports student attendance and academic progress daily, at mid-terms, and at the conclusion of each training session. * To apply effective teaching strategies for courses. * Must be able to effectively use appropriate technology and equipment. * Maintain student records as directed by institutional policy. * Identify and make recommendation for instructional equipment and student reference materials. * Provide advisement to students enrolled in area of teaching. * Provide one-on-one tutoring to students. * Maintain confidentiality of student and other staff. * Establishes productive relationships with industry sources, businesses, unions and other external agencies to promote excellence in training and appropriate job placement. * Provide outreach to community including college sponsored community outreach and service projects. * Prepare and submit monthly program progress reports to CTE Director. * Maintain office hours; participate in department and institutional meetings and committees. * To accept TMCC committee(s) assignments and other related contract-delineated responsibilities as specified in contract.
Ideal Candidate
* High school diploma or GED required. A certificate or AAS degree in related field preferred. * Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman, Master or Licensed Plumber required * Positive work history in the field of plumbing for at least 5 years * Possess current Plumber’s License (ND or any state is acceptable) * Classroom experience and experience with instruction preferred. * Must have valid ND Driver License. * Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the program. Must be team oriented, yet possess the ability to work independently * Must meet ND State Career & Technical Education Postsecondary Certification Standards and be willing to work towards receiving certification upon hire. * Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of Turtle Mountain Community College **Physical Demands:** * Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds due to equipment and storage. * Position will occasionally require long periods of sitting and working on the computer.

Working Conditions

Duties will require travel and exposure to training sites that can impose a risk of minor injury.
