Industrial Designer - Hoover Team

As our brands go from strength to strength, we are looking to expand our Hoover Industrial Design team with a talented and motivated Industrial Designer wanting to make a difference.

* The right person will have a deep curiosity about how things work, and a desire to make things better. They will take ownership of product concepts while taking into consideration engineering, marketing, production, and sales criteria within a fast paced and dynamic team. The Industrial Designer will work on key programs within ID, and maintain the product design intent through to production, including concept design, proof of concept models, 3D CAD and rendering. Working closely with product management, engineering, consumer insights and innovation teams, you will generate successful concept solutions to consumer problems and unmet needs within commercial and technical constraints. The role will also be responsible for testing and validating concepts with the consumer insights team, and prepare concept renderings / support materials for use in marketing and sales presentations, often to tight deadlines. * We are looking for people who are passionate about design, relish challenges, and will excel at the design and development of the next generation of floor care products within a creative and focused team environment.

**Formal Education / Certification Requirements** * Minimum Bachelors in Industrial Design or related field required **Job-Related Experience/ Skills/ Competencies** * Minimum 4+ years experience in Industrial design within the consumer produced goods industry or similar * Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based concept/design/graphic packages (Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchbook Pro, Keyshot) * Demonstrated innovative user focused problem solving * Good knowledge of ProEngineer / Creo, including strong surfacing skills * 2D and 3D product prototyping skills (sketching and model making) required * Demonstrated ability to generate concepts quickly * Excellent 3D surface modeling and form development skills on PC based systems * Mechanical aptitude and understanding of materials and manufacturing processes. * Demonstrated project completion experience and ability to support product designs and maintain design intent from concept through to production within agreed project schedules * Graphics and product labelling capabilities are a plus * Working knowledge of mechanisms and design for manufacture are a plus * Good communication and presentation skills; ability to present design concepts effectively and convincingly to Director, and Leadership * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams and foreign manufacturers * Positive attitude, Drive for results, Takes ownership * Dependable and service oriented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner * Working knowledge of office computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) **Travel Requirements** * 10% Domestic and International travel required
