Director of Communications

Trine University’s Office of Marketing and Communications is seeking a qualified individual to fill the Director of Communication position. This position works independently to create written communications for public relations/news with the purpose of information dissemination through avenues such as web, signage, social media and publications, etc.

* This position reports directly to the V.P. for Marketing & Communications. * The director prepares creative articles, press releases, letters, speeches, and other written materials regarding university activities and ensures adherence to organizational brand standards. In addition to performing research to gather information for accurate and creative writing, the director develops, monitors and maintains a media database of contacts. * A key responsibility is to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with media representatives. * The director also serves as an editor of the university’s magazine, developing story ideas, writing articles, subheads, compiling data, research and more toward magazine publication. * Other duties as assigned by the vice president.

* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. * This position requires no less than five years of experience in this or related fields. * Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in higher education. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an appreciation for the value of a comprehensive pre-professional, engineering, business, sciences and education university. * Valid driver’s license * Experience and skill working with computers and software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.), and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
