Senior-level career opportunity for an experienced energy efficiency engineering position. TRC provides energy efficiency engineering and technical consulting services for energy efficiency programs across the United States. Our clients include utilities, state and federal agencies, and other energy efficiency organizations. The Technical Director will be a key member of TRC’s consulting services team with primary project work in codes and standards (C&S), evaluation and research and emerging technology (RET) program areas. This position requires an individual who can provide technical expertise and oversight on a range of projects that include engineering analysis and modeling, field measurement, market assessment, and energy efficiency policy analysis.

- Assessment and testing of HVAC and Domestic Hot Water Systems
- Development of performance modeling methods for advanced HVAC systems
- Support for program evaluation, including: developing program logic models, documenting detailed program activity information, analyzing program data to assess the impact of policy on program cost effectiveness and net benefits, and developing recommendations for policy directions.
- Determination of energy savings through field measurements and engineering analysis of the performance of emerging technologies.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or related discipline.
- Minimum of nine years professional experience in the building energy efficiency field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in engineering analysis and other qualitative and quantitative research analysis, field measurements, and market assessment.
- Ability to manage own time and workload effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, work both independently and collaboratively, and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent technical writing and speaking skills.
- Strong quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in database, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis.
- Experience in energy efficiency policy analysis.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software applications (SAS and/or SPSS Q) Business management experience in a consulting context is desirable.
