Summary
The Creative Manager is a design leader and brand steward, whose high standards and broad, conceptual thinking drives creative excellence. The Creative Manager leads the “R” Us creative team in developing creative for cobranded marketing programs across all consumer touch points, corporate collateral and in-store marketing to promote sales and drive store traffic and brand engagement. The Creative Manager helps drive the evolution of the brand to position “R” Us as the world’s greatest kids brand. The Creative Manager reports to the Creative Director, “R” Us within Creative Services and works closely with a number of cross functional partners from Creative, Marketing, Philanthropy, Visual, Merchandising, Store Operations, International, Product Development and agency/partners to ensure a superior guest experience through clear, concise and compelling marketing communications.
Responsibilities
- Sets design strategies that meet marketing objectives, and drive sales, traffic and brand engagement. - Directs work that meets a high standard of quality via brand standards and design guidelines - Delivers fresh and innovative creative solutions; collaborates with Creative Director to drive evolution of the world’s greatest kid’s brand - Presents creative work to senior management, effectively communicating strategies and concepts to gain support - Provides meaningful, clear art direction and constructive feedback that meet marketing objectives - Collaborates with Creative Managers of Toys“R”Us, Babies“R”Us and Copy teams to create synergy and integration across all channels - Collaborates with Marketing, E-commerce, Merchandising, Visual, Store Operation and other cross-divisional partners to support strategies, deliver fresh creative/marketing solutions and build strong partnerships. - Works with outside agencies and vendors to ensure the brand is executed according to guidelines - Manages project budgets and outside labor costs, providing accurate forecasts based on current workload and projected future spend in bi-weekly updates - Leads, inspires and motivates team to drive creative excellence, innovation and results, to meet productivity standards, and to maintain high morale - Manages direct reports and freelance designers to ensure accountability in meeting development and production milestones; assists Creative Director to identify and remove obstacles, adjusts workload and assignments to accommodate changing business needs - Cultivates talent and develops leadership succession plan - Evaluates ongoing organizational needs, structure, and workflow for rapidly changing company needs Recruits talented, collaborative, high-performing designers that consistently deliver strong solutions
Ideal Candidate
- BFA in Graphic Design - 8+ years of design experience in graphic design, advertising, brand and retail environments. - 3+ years of management experience required - Strategic – finds solutions that integrate business and brand objectives - Creative – initiates and promotes ideas that drive the business - Balanced – knows how to deliver on both art and practicality - Articulate – strong written and verbal skills - Leads by example, is collaborative and excels at building partnerships - Project management strength - able to plan, prioritize, organize, and delegate work effectively - Proven strength in problem analysis, and decision making - Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with working knowledge in digital design - Working knowledge in Microsoft Office and SketchUp a plus
