About Tome, Inc.

A passion for connecting hardware products to software applications led Jake Sigal and Massimo Baldini to launch Tome, Inc. in April 2014.

Responsibilities
  • What will you create this year? We’re jeans and hoodie friendly, backed by unlimited caffeine and an arsenal of modern development gear at our disposal.

  • Tome Software has immediate openings for additional software engineers to join our development team in downtown Royal Oak. If you’re looking to work with a proven and award-winning entrepreneurial team to change the status quo of tech through passion and hard work, here’s what you need to know about us, and what we need from you.

  • Over the last year we launched OfficeIQ, a software/sensor solution, with our furniture partner Humanscale. The OfficeIQ product motivates users to be more active by objectively measuring activity via sit/stand workstations and non-disruptive reminders. We also launched a mobility application (MoDe:Link) with Ford that connects multimodal mobility systems (public transit, mapping, parking, etc.) to connected eBikes. All Tome engineers have the opportunity to work on various projects, with new challenges constantly arising. Many of our current projects are still super secret (shhh!) and provide a unique opportunity to work with some of the best customers and some of the most-interesting problems in the world.

Ideal Candidate
  • Must love writing code.
  • Ability to think on your feet and solve complex problems.
  • Minimum four-year degree (BS/MS) in computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum two years post-college work experience.
  • Must live or be willing to live within 15 miles of Royal Oak, Mich.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Five or more years of varied software development experience.
  • Experience creating RESTful APIs with Java, Jersey, Maven, Glassfish, JSON/XML
  • Experience with RAML or other RESTful modeling language
  • Bonus points for experience with GIS, PostGIS, Open Street Maps, OpenTripPlanner, Graphhopper or other navigation & mapping packages
  • Amazon Web Services experience.
  • Working knowledge of the general tech landscape, architectures, trends and emerging technologies.
  • Must love creating great experiences for users, whether they are developers or consumers.

Tell us if you have these bonus skills:

  • Passion for bikes, cycling, mobility, and/or fitness.
  • Experience building connected experiences, through Wi-Fi, BLE, Bluetooth (iAP), USB (iAP), or 2nd screen.
  • Experience making complex systems easy to use and/or developing user-facing APIs.
  • Experience working in a lean, startup environment.
  • Sysadmin/IT/Linux experience.
