Summary
The Web Engineer at Time Inc. will lead a team of developers responsible for building new and support existing Time Inc websites. Successful candidates will be strong engineers who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, have a consistent track record of delivery, and excellent software engineering skills. Our customers require creative engineering balanced with high quality and a customer focus. In addition, this person must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time. The individual must have strong analytic capability and the ability to create innovative solutions. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is looking to grow their career in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with project stakeholders including editorial, sales, marketing, and business development. * Own new project development and ongoing site maintenance. * Work with the following technologies PhP, Drupal 7, CSS, HTML, JS, Jquery, SASS, and other common front-end technologies.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education * 4+ years professional experience in professional web development * Fluency in JavaScript and PHP * Experience coding, testing and documenting Drupal themes – including all front end functionality and templates – and modules – using contributed modules and developing custom modules as needed * Experience with modern web development standards and tools * Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent * Experience building complex web systems that have been successfully delivered to customers * Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project * Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates and meet production deadlines * Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems * Experience implementing and consuming large scale web services * Experience developing software utilizing workflow or ESB software * Experience with professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations * Respect in the Workplace.
