SysOps Engineer

Launching out of Y-Combinator in 2012, Tilt is the fastest growing in the crowdfunding space. We’re launching more crowdfunding campaigns per day than any other platform in the world by focusing on what this space will look like in a mobile world. Tilt has raised funding from Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel, Y-Combinator, and many of the smartest angel investors in the world.

We're seeking a highly-motivated SysOps engineer to help maintain and scale our growing cloud infrastructure to help us accomplish this goal. You understand that speed is survival and will work closely with our development teams to provide the support necessary for rapid code deployment and constant uptime. Our goal is to remove all fear from developers standing up new services and deploying new code, in order to foster experimentation across the product.

* Provide a vision for making the Tilt infrastructure into a platform for our engineers to deploy new apps and services as easily and quickly as possible * Build the best development environment possible (currently we're using Vagrant) * Manage and improve our Jenkins/CI pipelines/performance * Enhance existing monitoring and metrics gathering. * Stay on top of security announcements for the tools we use (nginx, ssl, ssh, etc.) * Measure, predict, and stay ahead of performance bottlenecks. * Will have a key role in scaling our infrastructure across multiple datacenters. * Optimize building, and configuring new servers (currently we're using Chef + Packer)

* Several years of system administration experience in an AWS environment (VPC's, Cloudformation, ELB, EB) * Experience with app and server monitoring. * Experience with Chef Best Practices * Experience scaling web application infrastructures, and understanding of common bottlenecks * Solid experience managing and scaling RDBMS databases (PostgreSQL specifically) * A team-oriented individual whom thrives working with developers. * Someone with great leadership qualities, able to set, and rally the team around a goal and vision
