Summary
The Software Engineer develops, documents, maintains, and supports client / server applications that sustain the organization’s business. In addition, participates in analysis and design of business processes, and implements system enhancements to support process changes and improvements. Documents standards, best practices, business rules and processes that underlie the systems, while following the software development lifecycle process.
Responsibilities
* Designs, develops and provides support for Dynamics NAV and additional applications, including ongoing monitoring and continuous process and application improvement. * Partners with IT co-workers, stakeholders, process owners, senior level Software Engineers and users to elicit and document business requirements; translates non-technical requirements into technical business requirements. Uses current knowledge of business and technology to recommend systems and process improvements. * Provide input and insight for architecture, application development / enhancement, and maintenance of corporate applications, including upgrades, patch management, and customizations. * Develop documentation and provide orientation and training to users (including IT) for system functionality. * Assist in developing IT policies and standards, budget and cost control, strategic and disaster recovery planning, documentation, and development and implementation of general IT procedures. * Attendance at multi-day off-site training sessions, weekend and evening work, and response to after hours emergency calls, may be required. * Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, peers, supervisors and the general public. * Demonstrate strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on team outcomes. * Communicate effectively; excellent verbal and written communication skills * Collaborate in a team environment while exercising independent judgment and initiative. * Demonstrate a professional image with ability to form good partner relationships across functional teams. * Work under pressure, meet deadlines, be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. * Technical training with significant related experience can be substituted for the degree. **Experience:** * 5+ years of experience of software development, preferably within an ERP system * 3+ years of experience of working with version control systems (preferably Microsoft solutions) * 5+ years working with business teams to assess needs and requirements * Strong MS office product capabilities (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project)
