Summary
The Maintenance Manager provides support to manufacturing and is responsible for the maintenance of equipment and buildings. This position is located at our Boardman, Oregon facility and works with the Director of Plant Operations and the plant’s department managers to insure the success of the manufacturing plant. This position also works to plan, organize, and manage continuous improvement and capital projects at the plant. Administers the maintenance proficiency pay program with department staff.
Responsibilities
* Direct maintenance activity strategy within the plant to allow the highest level of production efficiency while maintaining equipment longevity and product quality. Coordinate and manage continuous improvement opportunities within the plant. * Work closely as a team and in support of the Director of Plant Operations and other department managers. Show a united front as a team when strategies and direction is given. * Maintain regulatory compliance with ammonia and electrical programs, and provide leadership on safety compliance and initiatives in the plant. * Provide major budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures, and work with the Director of Engineering and plant departments to manage and coordinate capital projects. * Oversee development and execution of maintenance operating plans/budget. * Oversee development and execution of departmental SOPs for maintenance, parts, inventory, energy management, and other departmental functions. * Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public. * Address performance issues in a timely, consistent, and confidential manner * Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance * Build teamwork by treating people with respect and encouraging cooperation, involvement, and information sharing * Ensure compliance with USDA, OSDA, FDA, and other regulatory product safety requirements
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** High school diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s degree is a plus. **Experience:** * 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing a maintenance department with supervisor experience. Previous experience managing facility and grounds maintenance. * 10+ years’ experience in construction or maintenance and repair of production equipment, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. **Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public. * Ability to communicate effectively. * Must be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. SharePoint and ERP systems knowledge is a plus. * Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company. * Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously. * Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision. **Physical Requirements:** * Weekend and off-shift work is required. Some travel is required. * Must pass pre-employment testing * Administration: Individual work space, desk and computer. May not be temperature controlled, could have loud background noises. May include entering production facility and walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and encountering forklift traffic. Requires sitting majority of shift; can include standing and walking to accomplish tasks. May require stooping, bending and crouching to file, retrieve supplies. Occasional lifting of 25 pounds. * Production : Space can be crowded with manufacturing equipment. Must remain aware of forklift traffic. Noisy; some areas can be dusty. May encounter extremes in temperature. Requires standing entire shift, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending and crouching and climbing ladders. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 55 pounds.
