The IT Director role is a blend of strategy with execution. S/he is the conduit between the employee and the entire IT experience. Thumbtack needs a proven strategic leader with the vision for using tech as an enabler to our business and delivering an amazing user experience. S/he will continually actualize the current team’s potential and build a world class team who can adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, fun, and entrepreneurial environment. S/he shows a passion for technology and sets a high bar for delivering an uncompromising customer support experience across multiple locations and times zones to the Thumbtack team.
- Lead and manage corporate IT services, development services, and internal facing high availability systems, with IT as an SLA-driven service organization.
- Build out, lead, and manage an IT team including system administrators, support specialists, network engineers, and contractors.
- Develop, deliver and support world-class IT infrastructure, tools, and technologies.
- Resolve complex problems as a hands-on system admin and provide network, server, application, security, and telecom IT infrastructures design and support, as well as end user desktop support.
- Manage vendors, conduct negotiations and procure tools, systems, and services.
- Provide leadership, develop, and implement processes in support of ITIL/best practices and any other applicable standardization of IT Services and business continuity.
- Comprehensive experience in servers, networking, security, software and business apps support.
- Strong network experience with solid understanding of TCP/IP, networking, firewalls, routers and switches.
- Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills.
Core Requirements
- Develop and execute a technology roadmap, embracing cloud and mobility first.
- Identify solutions to enable growth, address security needs, and optimize collaboration.
- 7+ years in management with excellent people management skills within and across organizations; must have experience in managing and growing an IT team.
- Collaborate on & develop IT policies, disaster recovery plans, and business resumption plans.
- Strong attention to detail; ability to prioritize, organize, coordinate, and execute simultaneous tasks and projects; deliver on time.
- Excellent customer service, face-to-face communication skills and attitude; architect a world-class user experience.
Skills
- Extensive OS X, Linux/UNIX, AND Windows experience.
- Strong experience with Google apps configuration and management.
- Experience with identity management systems (Okta) and enterprise directory services (AD).
- Monitoring tool experience (e.g. Zenoss, New Relic, etc.).
