Social Media & Promotions Lead to help build the leading spirits-focused site in North America. The Social Media & Promotions Lead will be responsible for setting the strategy for growing reach and engagement across all available platforms. Working closely with the Editor-In-Chief, s/he will be tasked with defining best practices for building audience across a variety of social channels, as well as generating site growth via marketing deals, email distribution, audience acquisition, and various other avenues, with a primary KPI of growing reach and engagement.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: oversight of all content promotion and creation on a variety of social channels (such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Vine, and Pinterest); supervision of owned promotional avenues (email distribution and TMG umbrella platforms); management of content sharing partnerships with third-party digital publishers; proactive involvement in editorial content ideation to identify and shape socially viable stories; relentlessly digging through data to optimize performance.
- Define quality, tone, and service standards by channel, ensuring a native experience wherever our audience interacts with us
- Identify platform-specific best practices for how to best engage and grow audience
- Establish the ideal mix of native vs. curated vs. site-driving content for each individual social platform
- Work closely with Editorial to guide them toward the content our audience wants across all channels
- Build and manage the team responsible for audience health
- Stay ahead of the curve with emerging platforms and get our new property in on the ground floor of any breaking opportunities
- Own our new property’s email and turn it into a best-in-class offering
- Work with Product to optimize the website as a content discovery machine
- Define a robust site and social partnership strategy
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience in digital publishing
- Must have 1-3 years of experience managing social media for a digital media publisher
- Strong understanding of social media and demonstrable experience driving content to and from various social media platforms
- Strong analytics experience using Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, ChartBeat, and other analytics tools
- Deep understanding of audience behavior, engagement strategies, what makes people share things on various social media platforms
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
