Summary
Our new property is looking for a true drink enthusiast to serve as **Editorial Director** and lead the charge on building the leading spirits-based site in North America! The Editorial Director will be responsible for the overall direction of our new property from inception across all platforms. Overseeing a team of editors, writers, producers, and designers, (s)he will be tasked with growing audience and engagement both on the new property's site and a variety of social media outlets, with primary KPI being unique visitors on site and cumulative content views across all platforms.
Responsibilities
* Responsibilities will include: * Establishing the tone of the site through thoughtful consideration of the stories that need to be told, and the manner in which they are reported * Securing the place of our new property both within the spirits industry and at large by offering an authoritative yet approachable take on the category * Developing a two-pronged content approach that simultaneously builds a thriving social media presence for the brand while making it a dynamic player in spirits-related SEO * Doggedly leveraging data to improve performance. * Build our new property into the leading voice on spirits in North America * Create a brand that has the respect and support of the industry but resonates with even casual imbibers * Enact a content plan that captures both massive social engagement and substantial SEO traffic, and work closely with both the site’s **Executive Editor** and **Social Media & Promotions Editor** to track implementation * Achieve clearly established annual goals for both average monthly uniques on site and aggregate content views across all platforms * Hold weekly data meetings with leadership team to develop and institute best practices for content moving forward * Ensure all content meets brand guidelines and creates a safe environment for advertisers * Work closely with TMG senior management in achieving all of the above
Ideal Candidate
* Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 7-10 years experience in digital publishing including previous tenure as Editorial Director (or similar visionary executive editorial role) * Formidable spirits category expertise and insight * A large rolodex of distillers, brand ambassadors, bartenders, writers and other industry insiders * A passion for identifying the stories about spirits that need to be told, and a vision for how * Proven track record with hiring, developing and leading an editorial teams * Experience managing teams effectively both in a direct and indirect reporting capacity * Demonstrated experience with tying data insights to editorial output * Team player with the ability delegate tasks effectively while maintaining a watchful eye on quality * An unmatched passion for the world of spirits
