We're looking for someone who knows fantastic writers and editors personally, can spot fantastic writers and editors in the wild, and can get fantastic writers and editors to come work for Thrillist -- both freelance and full-time. Maybe you have a background in recruiting, or maybe you've been working in editorial and are ready to put your network to work for you (and us!) in a role that sits outside the daily production grind. - Recruit freelance writers and photographers across local and national verticals
- Work with vertical leads, our Editorial Director, and internal HR department to identify and recruit full-time editors and writers
- Develop strong relationships with editors to understand specific hiring needs for each position, and craft an outreach and recruiting plan
- Source candidates through the use of LinkedIn, networking, and personal referrals
- Onboard freelancers to a rapidly growing network of over 400 people
- Be the face of Thrillist Editorial at job fairs and industry events
- Develop and evolve best practices for recruitment, use, and management of freelance talent
- Maintain & improve our third-party freelancer management & assignment platform
- Own & maintain contributor policies and procedures
- Liaise with accounting department on all matters related to invoices, tax forms, payments, etc.
- Liaise with legal department on all matters related to contributor contracts
- Maintain and evaluate reports of contributor content and performance
- Review and approve all contributor invoices and expenses
- A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 to 5 years of related digital editorial work experience
- Expansive, pre-existing network of writers, editors, and photographers
- Professional recruiting experience is preferred, but not essential -- we’re looking for someone who can find and evaluate talent
- Incredibly detail-oriented and eager to get back to freelancers and full-time candidates in a timely fashion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially interdepartmentally
- Ability to efficiently manage competing priorities across various verticals/channels
- Experience with editorial contracts and matters involving intellectual property a plus
- Experience with WorkMarket (or other freelance management system) a plus, but not required
