This is done by using reliability knowledge and engineering experience identify reliability risks and develop strategies to eliminate or lessen those risks. This role requires a wide general knowledge of engineering to apply reliability techniques to mechanical, electrical, thermal and other risks. Additionally, this person will be responsible to design and oversee the construction of any custom reliability test fixtures needed to support the evaluation of new technologies.
Responsibilities
* Develop a reliability culture by working with other engineers and participating in design reviews. Coach project teams on aspects of Design for Reliability. * Apply a sound understanding of Physics of Failure to support new designs and root cause efforts. Identify gaps in necessary knowledge and acquire that knowledge through 3rd party assistance, educational opportunities, or research. * Facilitate effective FMEAs with design teams. Effective FMEA's are critical to ensure proper evaluation plans for projects. * Be a subject mater expert on general reliability tools for teams. This includes topics such as DOE, Sample Size Calculation, FTA, Weibull analysis, MTBF, Root Cause Analysis, etc... * Use reliability and statistical software tools such as Minitab and Reliasoft products to make sound and statistically relevant evaluations. * Develop and maintain a reliability database for all critical cold storage components including usage factors, acceleration factors, and reliability models. * Apply mechanical, electrical, and controls design expertise to design and implement reliability test fixtures. * Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand programming environments and Data Acquisition (DAQ) equipment is necessary to support existing test fixtures. Experience with these or similar tools will be necessary for future fixture development as well. * Ensure acceleration factors are employed effectively and accurately when possible. * Document reliability test plans as standardized Engineering Test Procedures to ensure repeatability and traceability. * Coordinate on site and remote reliability testing. * Evaluate test results to ensure reliability model predictions are accurate. Optimize models based on results. * Drive Team Leaders to ensure proper reliability specifications for subsystem and components. Early identification of reliability requirements for platform planning. * Support the Engineering Change process. * Work effectively with global cross-functional teams during all phases of the toll-gate design process.
