Responsibilities
- DCL is seeking a Writer to prepare written content for the Division’s multitude of course development and marketing projects. - The successful candidate will develop creative concepts to supplement a variety of UNCG’s online programs and write short- and long-form copy to be used across multiple course platforms and media channels. - Write copy that is tailored to different communication channels, including but not limited to Canvas, WordPress, HubSpot, print, radio, TV/video, blogs, and other social media. - Interface with online program directors, faculty, and staff to develop UNCG’s online learning programs and assist in the planning, design, and implementation of instructional activities. - Conduct research and interview online students (current and former) to gather information on the online learning experience at UNCG. - Develop marketing message concepts and their accompanying headline(s) and copy, relevant to a diverse range of marketing campaigns and projects. Present written drafts to internal and external stakeholders and make revisions based on their feedback. Collaborate with internal and external marketing and creative teams including project managers, designers, multimedia specialists, coders, and media buyers. - Support the Division’s overall writing, proofreading, and copyediting needs, including but not limited to marketing, online course development, and special projects.
Ideal Candidate
- A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution - Five (5) years of relevant and progressive work experience - High proficiency in English language (grammar and spelling) - Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) - Demonstrated ability to write compelling copy across a range of writing styles and tones - Intermediate skills in MS Office applications - Understanding of AP writing style standards - Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain great attention to detail - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Familiarity with search engines, SEO principles, and content optimization - Work experience in higher education - with social media marketing - Agency experience a plus
