Summary

We are currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist in our New York City location.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in driving and innovating various HR programs/initiatives to recruit the best talent and support employee performance, engagement, and retention.
  • Leading the continued development of our HRIS system.
  • Performing all aspects of recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interviewing and tracking candidates, attending job fairs, making hiring recommendations, ensuring new hires complete the proper on-boarding processes and paperwork, and presenting at New Employee Orientation to foster a positive attitude among new hires.
  • Fostering relationships with hiring managers and employees in several of the Foundling’s programs by serving as the first point-of-contact for routine HR issues and inquiries.
  • Maintaining records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers and terminations.
  • Engaging with managers to identify employee problems and provide counseling and solution-oriented advice to drive employee performance and reduce risk.
  • Handling complex employee relations issues from inception through resolution, and conducting investigations involving alleged employee misconduct.
  • Drafting corrective discipline reports, offer/termination letters, and other written correspondence and memoranda.
  • Managing employee leaves in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and consistently with The Foundling’s policies and benefit plans.
  • Administering employee separation process and documentation, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Travelling to program sites in greater New York City area to provide HR representation.
  • Performing other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Providing excellent client service, advice, and counseling to multiple Foundling programs with a variety of needs.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies and procedures, and reporting are in compliance with regulatory agencies.
Ideal Candidate
  • BA degree in Human Resources or related field;
  • 2+ years working in Human Resources or customer-service based field; experience with heavy recruitment a plus;
  • Excellent judgment, listening skills, critical writing and thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail;
  • Proven written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; knowledge of HRIS and ATS software a plus;
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity, and ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of employment laws and other government compliance regulations;
  • Able to project a friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor and be a demonstrated team player.
