Summary
Continental Mortgage Corp. is seeking an Affordable Loan Officer to work in our Debt Placement Platform. The primary responsibilities will be to coordinate the financing of housing developments between developers and lenders.
Responsibilities
* Work with the Real Estate Developer to assess and determine the feasibility and optimal financing structure for the proposed development; * Be the primary contact with the Real Estate Developer sponsoring the project, the lender(s) and the Continental underwriters; * Present credit-worthy projects to the Internal Credit Committee; * Provide regular communication with both developers and external lenders; * Coordinate and conduct due diligence to determine credit worthiness of the planned financing; * Order, coordinate and critically evaluate appraisals, market studies, environmental reports, capital needs assessments, financial statements, insurance policies, property tax assessments, and other documents necessary for sound underwriting conclusions of a proposed development; * Prepare Loan package including narrative, pro forma, third party reports and various due diligence for submission to the Lender(s); * Coordinate the loan closing process and coordinate the negotiation of financing agreements with counsel; * Monitor construction activity and document conversion to permanent phase or the placement of the permanent loan; and * Be involved in various special projects. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills** * The candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines, work independently, perform multiple tasks, and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to navigate the demands of both internal and external stakeholders. * The candidate must have strong organizational skills, mathematical and analytical skills, and communication skills (both written and oral). * Attention to detail and computer skills (including Word and Excel) are also necessary. * The applicant will primarily work in the Marlton office with minimal travel **Required Experience** * A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. * A minimum of five years of lending, finance or real estate development experience is desired. * Experience in affordable, conventional, student and agency multifamily lending is also desired. * An understanding of affordable housing operating (i.e. Section 8 HAP) and financing tools (i.e. LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds) is preferred. * The candidate will receive support and on the job training.
