Quality Assurance Engineer

* Designs, develops and executes automated and manual test for quality and performance testing of the company’s insurance applications. * Analyzes and resolves discrepancies and ensures all information systems products and services meet minimum company standards and end-user requirements. * Identifies and recommends Quality Assurance process and procedure improvements. * Trains, mentors, and reviews work of other team members.

* A college Degree preferably in a related discipline or equivalent technical training * At least 5 years quality/performance testing * Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance business - Personal Lines desired * Automated testing tools experience * Knowledge of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and testing methodologies * Scripting and test automation, using QTP/UFT and VBSript required * Experience with viewing and updating database tables via SQL scripts * Experienced in writing advanced SQL preferred * Training experience is desirable * Team Lead experience a plus * Proven ability in working collaboratively with outside vendors, developers, business analysts, business users, project managers, and teammates. * A strong understanding of complex problem analysis and resolution techniques * Must be able to work with development team to understand and resolve bugs/defects * Strong organizational skills and experience in developing and maintaining QA process documentation, workflows and test plans * Strong written and verbal communication skills Role Competencies * Analytical Thinking/Decision Making - Knowledge of tools and techniques for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks and perspectives when solving problems. * Business Acumen - Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business. * Managing Multiple Priorities - Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. * Relationship Building - Initiates, develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships with others inside or outside the organization. * Drive for Results - Continuously focused on achieving/exceeding goals and objectives. Technical Competencies * Application Testing - Ability to design, plan and execute application testing strategies and tactics to ensure software quality at all stages of application development. * Change Control - Knowledge of and experience with effectively managing changes to the production environment and technology-based assets of the organization (e.g., application software, production databases, operating systems software, hardware). * Problem Management - Knowledge of the process, tools, and ability to identify root causes of problems and bring them to a successful resolution. * Software Quality Assurance - Knowledge of activities, tasks, tools and techniques for evaluating new or enhanced systems, software packages and software tools to ensure adherence to functionality and quality requirements. * System Testing - Ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure software quality at all stages of the system life cycle.
